How the system is put together
A motorised track involves a few decisions that are easier made before installation than after.

Power supply.A hardwired motor needs a power point positioned during the fit-out, while a battery motor can be retrofitted without wiring.

Not necessarily, since battery-powered motors are designed to be added to an existing room without new cabling. Hardwiring is tidier where the walls are already open, so timing does influence which option makes sense.
Battery motors keep working normally, and most hardwired systems can be moved manually or released so the curtain can be drawn by hand. It's worth confirming the manual override on the specific motor being installed.
Timers and sun sensors are both common, letting curtains open in the morning and close as the light drops. Schedules can also be adjusted seasonally as sunrise and sunset shift.
